The Snuneymuxw First Nation council could have a vastly different look following the coming election on Dec. 3.

Twenty two candidates, including four incumbents, are seeking election to five openings on council.

The election will be for half the band council. Elections are staggered every two years.

Chief Doug White was elected during the last election in 2009 and the chief's position is not voted on this election.

Snuneymuxw council consists of 10 councillors and the chief.

Councillors seeking re-election are Darren Good, Geraldine Manson, Eric Wesley and John Wesley.

Voting will take place at the Snuneymuxw First Nation administration building.

Maggie Paquet, electoral officer overseeing the election, said she mailed out ballots to Snuneymuxw members who don't live on the reserve on Nov. 3. These Snuneymuxw members will send their completed ballots back to her.

Twenty-eight people were nominated to run for the five open council seats. Two nominations were not seconded, leaving 26 candidates.

Four of these people withdrew their nominations.

The other candidates seeking election are: Karen Ahenakew, James (Willard) Brown, Joan Brown, Chris Good, Melvin Good, Sandra Good, Craig Manson, Derrick Manson, Emily Manson, Gary Manson, Max Settler, Nick Seward, Regan Seward, Regena Seward-Wilson, Gloria Wesley, Richard White, Tracey White and Wesley Wyse.
